![]() With the middle click option enabled Fusion 360 all of a sudden becomes much more usable, whats more it is absolutely free. MagicPrefs is an app that extends the magic mouse's functionality by allow you to assign gestures and taps to trigger custom functions, including, yes you guessed it - a middle click. Unlike Fusion 360's predecessor, 123Design, there is no orbit on the right click as this action has been replaced by a shortcut menu, there is also no keyboard shortcuts available to enable pan and orbit functions.Īll is not lost however as there is a great little system tray app that solves this problem (and probably a few other problems that I have yet to discover). Not having a middle button makes navigating with Fusion 360 and absolute PITA, panning and orbiting require several clicks to enable, use and then disable the pan and orbit functions which does not make for a particularly smooth workflow, in fact it is downright annoying. It also has another annoying limitation when used with products like Autodesk's Fusion 360 - it has no middle button. ![]() Whilst it's a great piece of design, the touch sensitive top is not for everyone (my wife hates it). up or down instead of left or right - MagicPrefs will sometimes miss your swiping and that's just frustrating.īut until Apple brings back the 3 finger App Switcher swipe - presumably around when they realize how useless Mission Control is - MagicPrefs is the best answer I've found for MacBook users to get back this essential gesture. If, like me you are a die-hard Apple fan you have no doubt embraced all of Apples products including the sometimes not so magic, Magic Mouse. You have to do both though - the utility doesn't seem quite as precise as the old gesture used to be - if there are competing 3 and 4 finger swiping gestures, even if they're different, i.e. This is no loss, because those gestures just switch to the useless Mission Control and widgets screen, which no one would ever seriously want to use anyway, much less have a shortcut for. Then, you need to disable pretty much all of Apple's 3 and 4 finger gestures from the Trackpad settings under the System Preferences menu. ![]() This app is the only reliable way to get the App Switcher gesture back.īut the only way I found to have the gesture work *consistently* is to enable all 3 and 4 finger gestures - up, down, left and right - to invoke the App Switcher. Apple for some unimaginable reason removed the three finger App Switcher gesture from OS X Lion, probably in favor of the useless Mission Control feature. This wonderful little utility saved my MacBook. Once installed, the MagicPrefs adds a an icon to the Menu Bar which you can modify to reflect the battery level of the mouse. The size of the latest installation package available for download is 2.6 MB. The program lies within System Tools, more precisely Device Assistants. Download and use at your own risk on OS X versions newer than 10.8 Mountain Lion. The applications installer is commonly called. Note: MagicPrefs is more than 5 years old now and is no longer maintained.
